Chris Columbus, director of “Harry Potter”, to develop a series of fantastic “House of Secrets” books

Harry Potter and Home Alone Filmmaker Columbus will team up with his 26th Street Pictures partners – Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe, to develop the trio of his novels for online streaming giant Disney + Hotstar. The upcoming project revolves around siblings named Brendan Eleanor and Cordelia Walker, who are not thrilled when their family moves to a strange Victorian house that once belonged to an occult novelist named Denver Kristoff. By the time the Walker family realizes their new neighbor’s sinister plans for them, they are already trapped in the magical house, traveling through the parallel universes of Kristoff’s novels.

Speaking about the series, the Executive Vice President, Creative Development and Strategy said that Columbus, Barnathan and Radcliffe tell stories that “resonate with multiple audiences, across generations and genres” that also provide a sense of “magic. and wonder through definitional characters “. He added that there were so many “affinities” for their acclaimed films and that they were excited to work with him to develop the “thrilling” Disney + Hotstar series.

After releasing the Harry Potter franchise with his first two films- the sorcerer’s stone and Chamber of Secrets, Columbus filmmaker directed Percy Jackson and the Olmpians: The Lightning Thief. He has also produced films like The witch, the lighthouse and Scoob!

The director launched the House of Secrets novels in 2013. His first book was followed by Battle of the beasts and The shock of the world, which was published after Vizzini’s death in 2013. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he revealed that he found his inspiration seeing the impact of Harry Potter novels on children. He added that he considered the books a “cousin” to its popular 1985 release. The Goonies.
