“I wanted to be like them but I didn’t give it much thought because I was still young then,” the 20-year-old showbiz wannabe said.
Besides, his parents were not too enthusiastic about his desire to enter showbiz. They would rather see him focus on his studies and finish a degree.
Oliver joined a drama club in elementary school, which got him into acting stuff. He was already in 10th grade in high school when he discovered that he could also carry a melody.
“I then participated in a singing competition for cadets and modesty aside, I was declared champion,” recalls Oliver, who honed his singing talent by practicing karaoke at home.
But he likes to get noticed as an actor, just like his idols Aga Muhlach, Robin Padilla and Daniel Padilla.
Among the actresses, her favorites are Megastar Sharon Cuneta and Kathryn Bernardo.
Oliver joined the search for “Bida The Star” at KUMU where he had the chance to show off his acting prowess for about four weeks, doing acting drills every day under the tutelage of director Rhyan Carlos. Although he failed to continue competing, it inspired him to pursue his dream of being an actor.
Although he is busy with his studies at the World Citi Colleges Aeronautical School, he also takes singing lessons and rehearses his favorite songs by Michael Bolton and Michael Buble.
He describes himself as a friendly and gentle person.
“I consider my best friends like family. I treat them with respect and they do the same to me,” said Oliver, who is trying to build muscle for a future video shoot.
He’s only been in showbiz for a year but he enjoys singing in malls.
“I’m ready to wait for my break to come,” Oliver, who is a contract artist with R Multimedia Productions, said in conclusion.
