Percy Jackson Creator is developing new fantasy film for Disney Plus
Fans are starting to get impatient as they wait for official news on the Percy Jackson series in the works at Disney Plus, when it was first announced almost a year and a half ago, but all we’ve heard since then is a series of pretty vague updates from the author Rick Riordan.
The creator of the fantasy literary franchise is heavily involved in the development process, which is good news as neither he nor the public were particularly interested in the previous pair of Percy Jackson films, although it still takes the Mouse House a long time to line up their ducks and firm up a production and release schedule.
However, Riordan has clearly made good graces with the senior staff at Mouse House after revealing on his blog that he was set to produce and co-write a feature film adaptation of his book. Daughter of the Deep for the platform. Freely inspired by Jules Verne Twenty thousand leagues under sea, the concept has the potential to offer a solid and fun adventure for all ages.
Daughter of the Deep focuses on Ana Dakkar, a freshman at a high school specializing in training marine scientists, naval warriors, navigators and explorers. Orphaned after the deaths of her parents two years earlier, Ana finds herself caught in unspeakable tragedy, centuries-old strife and revelations about her family history as she battles deadly enemies, a premise that seems to be a worthy addition to the lineup of Disney Plus original films.
