When you’ve got a sci-fi or fantasy buff on your Christmas shopping list, the sheer number of pop culture stores seems like the easiest place to find them the perfect gift. But there are only so many Star wars cups or Harry potter merch, you can gift them before they expire. That’s why we’ve put together a little Christmas gift guide to sci-fi and fantasy books that are sure to stick in their piles to read.
It is very likely that they have already read everything about the Lord of the Rings To Game Of Thrones and The hunger Games. Fortunately, a bunch of fantastic reads have hit shelves this year, including the latest book in The extent series and a Netflix-related edition of Shadow and bone.

A fantastic reimagining of The beauty and the Beast, A court of thorns and roses follows the story of the hunter of humans, Feyre Archeron. The first novel begins after Feyre’s family falls into poverty thanks to a series of bad investments made by his father. To keep his family from starving to death, Feyre learned to hunt in the Forbidden Forest near their cabin – despite rumors that the deadly fae were hiding in its woods.
After killing a wolf, a monstrous beast bursts into his house and takes Feyre to Prythian, the realm of the fae. There, the young huntress learns of the existence of a mysterious curse, simply known as “the plight”. Over time, Feyre falls in love with the beast-turned-fairy lord, Tamlin, but the story doesn’t end there. Written by Polish writer Andrzej Sapowski, The witcher talks about a man named Geralt of Rivia, who kills monsters. During his travels, he meets the witch Yennefer of Vengerberg, with whom he maintains an intermittent relationship; and Ciri, a young princess with white hair that matches hers. The story tells the story of three characters who become a family, are torn apart and then find their way back to each other.
