Square Enix and Team Ninja could make a Final Fantasy game

There is a rumor that Square Enix and Team Ninja are collaborating on a Souls-like Final Fantasy spinoff game for the PlayStation 5.

Load up your controllers and prepare your walkthroughs as Final Fantasy receives the “Dark Souls / Nioh / Jedi Order” treatment… allegedly.

The rumor comes from a tweet from French player and leaker, SoulsHunt, who gained credibility in the gaming community by accurately predicting information such as the existence of a now released Ghosts of Tsushima DLC.

According to SoulsHunt, the rumored game will most likely be called “Final Fantasy Origin”, with Team Ninja (the studio behind the notoriously difficult Nioh games) playing a huge role in its development.

Compare the mechanics and feel of the game with what is needlessly difficult Dark souls and friendly Jedi Fallen Order, SoulsHunt also claims that the game will be announced at E3 this year with a playable demo available through PlayStation Network (PSN).

Square Enix and Team Ninja will use the demo as an opportunity for player commentary, before releasing the game exclusively for PS5.

The decision to get feedback from demos is a strategy Team Ninja has used in the past when developing Nioh games.

The rumor seems to have some validity as an industry insider, Navtra of ResetEra, also spoke about the alleged game. “It’s definitely Souls-inspired, but it’s not exactly what you imagine when you hear ‘Souls-like FF’,” said Navtra.

The news of this rumor follows a flood of announcements from Final Fantasy.

Not only has Square Enix worked hard to develop the previously announced Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, but fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade (a re-release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake with content).

While nothing about the game has been confirmed beyond rumors, Square Enix chairman Yosuke Matsuda has confirmed in an interview with Japanese publication Nikkei Cross Trend that the company will announce new plans at E3. of this year.

In this regard, it appears that SoulsHunt’s information may contain some credibility. However, as with all rumors, we’ll have to wait and see.
