‘The Princess’: Joey King’s fantasy film gets a release date


Princess, an original film from 20th Century Studios, will be released July 1 on Disney’s direct-to-consumer platforms. In the United States, it will be available on Hulu; in Latin America, it will be on Star+; and in all other territories, the film will be available to stream on Disney+ under the Star banner.

Described as “an action-packed deathmatch in a fairy tale world”, Princess is directed by Le-Van Kiet (Fury) and features Emmy nominee Joey King (The kissing booth, The act) as a talented and fearsome young royal.

20th Century Studios released a photo of King in the film, looking fierce as she wields a sword, along with a synopsis:

“When a beautiful, strong-willed princess refuses to marry the cruel sociopath to whom she is betrothed, she is kidnapped and locked in a secluded tower of her father’s castle. With her vindictive and despised suitor out to seize her father’s throne, the princess must protect her family and save the kingdom.

The film stars King, Dominic Cooper (Preacher), Olga Kurylenko (Black Widow), and Veronica Ngo (The old guard).

Princess is directed by Le-Van Kiet, written by Ben Lustig (The thirst) & Jake Thorton (Final Fantasy), and produced by Neal H. Moritz (the Fast and Furious franchise), Toby Jaffe (Total recall), and Derek Kolstad (John Wick), with King and Guy Riedel serving as executive producers.
